T-Shaped Leadership Training Module

Would you like to implement the T-Shaped Leadership model in your teams to foster flexible and innovative employees with diverse skills and strong problem-solving capabilities? To achieve this transformation, you can benefit from our specialized training and development programs, including T-Shaped Leadership in:

  • Supply Chain Process Management

  • Finance and Cost Process Management

  • Workplace Safety Process Management

  • Quality Process Management

  • HR Process Management

  • Project Management and Planning

The T-Shaped Leadership concept refers to individuals with deep expertise in a specific area (the vertical bar of the "T") and broad knowledge and skills across other areas (the horizontal bar of the "T"). This model allows individuals to excel in their specialized tasks while fostering teamwork and collaboration through their cross-disciplinary insights.

An alternative model, I-Shaped Leadership, focuses on individuals with deep expertise in a narrow field. Although these individuals excel in their specific areas, they may encounter challenges in collaboration and problem-solving processes due to their limited cross-functional knowledge.

T-Shaped Leaders provide value to teams with their deep expertise while supporting collaboration and versatility in other areas. Their flexibility and task-oriented nature enable organizations to adapt quickly to diverse projects.

Lean management and lean production are processes that aim to eliminate waste and create value for all stakeholders. The Toyota Production System (TPS), also known as the "Lean Production System" or "Just-in-Time Production (JIT)," is a management and production methodology.

The Toyota Production System (TPS) is based on two key concepts:

  1. Jidoka ("automation with a human touch"), where equipment stops immediately if an issue arises to prevent defective products from being produced.

  2. Just-in-Time (JIT), where each process produces only what is needed for the next step, ensuring a continuous flow.

The five core principles of lean management and lean production (Ref: James Womack & Daniel Jones, "Lean Thinking") are summarized below:

  • Defining Value: Defined in terms of specific products and services from the customer's perspective. What does the customer truly want?

  • Mapping the Value Stream: Mapping all end-to-end activities, processes, and functions needed to transform inputs into outputs and eliminate waste.

  • Creating Continuous Flow: Ensuring that the remaining value-creating steps flow smoothly after eliminating waste.

  • Pull System: Creating a system focused on "pull" rather than "push," producing only what is needed based on customer demand instead of excess stock.

  • Pursuing Perfection: Achieving continuous improvement by striving for excellence as a whole organization.
